Watch this absolutely stunning fast growing purple-blue ipomoea flourish and climb from July through to September, providing fantastic purple-bloom angelic blooms. All summer long this beauty will vigoursly climb your walls, trellis and fences or even on a support in your conservatory! A truly versatile exotic statement piece in any garden!Sow March to April. Soak seeds overnight in tepid water before sowing. Sow seed, 6mm (1/8") deep in pots or trays of soil-based potting mix and cover seeds with a layer of com-post or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container in a polythene bag and put in a warm place, and keep at a temperature between 20-25C (68-77F). After sowing, do not ex-clude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not water-logged; germination will usually take 7-30 days.When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3") pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12") apart.For pot plants, plant into loam-based soil in 20cm (8”) pots. Grow on with plenty of light, but shade from direct sun. Remove spent flowers regularly.
