Odyshape

Riding the waves of the underground music scene, The Raincoats return with their second album Odyshape, now in a beautiful marble vinyl format. This 1981 release showcases the band's eclectic and experimental sound, blending post-punk with elements of world music and avant-garde artistry. From the haunting vocals of Ana da Silva to the unconventional instrumentation, Odyshape is a sonic journey that defies traditional genre boundaries. Tracks like "No Side to Fall In" and "Dancing in My Head" showcase the band's knack for creating atmospheric, almost otherworldly sounds that transport the listener to a place of introspection and wonder. The production on this album is raw and unpolished, giving it an authentic and DIY feel that set it apart from the overly produced music of the time. The band's refusal to conform to industry standards is a breath of fresh air in a world of cookie-cutter pop stars and manufactured hits. While Odyshape may not be for everyone, those who appreciate music that pushes boundaries and challenges the status quo will find plenty to love in this album. So grab your favourite drink, sit back, and let The Raincoats take you on a musical journey like no other.
